The Job

The Renal Association’s Systems Team has a number of potential roles. All roles are python focused with the opportunity to develop or contribute in the following areas: web development, Django, data science and devops.

We are looking for experienced people, able to apply their skills and if necessary learn new skills to support the development and maintenance of a number of bespoke organisational systems and applications, whilst also helping staff to make best use of the technologies available to them.

Often you will have more than one project on the go at the same time and will need to manage your time effectively to progress all the projects.

The person:

  • You must hold the equivalent of at least a first degree level qualification and ideally will have some experience handling medical data
  • You must be open-minded with an innovative attitude to delivery, to ensure the most effective and appropriate tools and solutions are used
  • We’re looking for a willingness to understand our data and how it is used and validated
  • You should also have a positive approach to problem solving and team work, and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

We are looking for people who can demonstrate some of these skills and knowledge:

  • Python, SQL (PostgreSQL, MS SQL), Django
  • Java, .NET tools (C#)
  • Experience in developing software for windows and Linux using MS Windows
  • Experience of Linux (RedHat/CentOS/Ubuntu) would be an advantage
  • Angularjs, Angualr.js, Vue.js or similar web frameworks
  • Experience of healthcare technologies, such as Mirth, HL7, FIHR, CDA, would be advantageous

We have members working in clinical renal care, treating and caring for people with kidney disease, and those working in research, or related sciences and fields.

The UK Renal Registry is the part of the Renal Association responsible for the collection, analysis, management and development of a high quality clinical renal database. We use data submitted from the 71 adult and 13 paediatric renal centres across the country to create our databases. This data is then extracted for research and audit reporting which contributes and directs improvements in kidney disease care and management for renal patients.
