We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer for our client's growing web development team. Job Description:

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and passionate software engineer to develop data solutions with financial data used in our client’s applications.
  • Analyze and improve our cloud-based data architecture
  • Design and develop software using cutting edge technologies consisting of data pipelines, ETL, big data, machine learning and cloud-based development methodologies
  • Key role in the development team to build high-quality, high-performance, scalable code to ingest data from various financial data vendors
  • Produce technical design documents and conduct technical walkthroughs
  • Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Respond to and resolve production issues

Requirements
  • Minimum of six (6) plus years of experience in software engineering, design and development of scalable data applications
  • Excellent Python coding skills and understanding of Python best practices
  • Experience in designing and developing Web Services and RESTFUL APIs using Python
  • Three (3) years of cloud-based development experience (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code, including unit tests (TDD)
  • Development with data in PostgreSQL or comparable relational database management system (RDBMS)
  • Ability to write complex queries using SQL and NoSQL statements
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and machine learning frameworks
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Experience with performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of data structures
  • Passion for learning and adopting new technology
  • Proficient on version control tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab or similar
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Obsession with customer focus and delivering business value. Demonstrate ownership, urgency and drive
  • Experience with various data-store technologies or data processing framework
  • Experience designing, architecting and building reliable data pipelines
  • Experience working with large structured and unstructured data sets
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques, frameworks, and best practices
  • Experience integrating / fusing data from multiple data sources
  • Effective coding, documentation, and communication habits
  • Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
  • Utilize cloud managed services like AWS Data Pipeline, AWS Aurora, AWS Glue, AWS Step functions, AWS Lambda, AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB
  • Strong experience in API development, micro-services pattern, cloud technologies and managed services preferably AWS, Big Data and Analytics
  • Strong Experience in Relational databases preferably PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases

Preferred but not required: • Agile/ Scrum experience. • Experience working with real-time financial data. • Experience with data-intensive distributed applications. • Knowledge of the investment space.
