Sr Backend API Engineer

Position Overview:

As a Senior Backend API Engineer, you will be working on designing, architecting, and implementing highly scalable, distributed, and fault tolerant backend systems. You will be part of the API team in our cybersecurity business unit and will be working on building both internal GraphQL APIs and public REST APIs on top of the large amount of data ingested into the Sumo Logic Cloud SIEM Enterprise product.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Evaluate requirements, define technical specifications, review design and communicate to stakeholders.
  • Lead, organize, and participate in cross-team discussions on system design and architecture
  • Deliver and maintain features that are scalable, stable, and performant
  • Work closely with the data pipeline teams to index large amounts of data and work with the UI team to deliver the queries/aggregations they need
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to manage incidents and support the services you have developed

Who You Are:

  • Coding fluency in at least Python and either Java or Scala
  • Experience with PSQL or other SQL databases
  • Experience with Kafka and/or Elasticsearch preferred
  • Competency with modern CI/CD tooling like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible & Jenkins
  • A desire to see features through from development to deployment in production environments
  • Flexible and willing to step into new roles and responsibilities
  • 5+ years of experience
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
